"The heavenly Father wants to be His children's greatest delight—the One in whom fulfillment and satisfaction are found. When that is true in a believer's life, then he or she does not require a lot of "stuff," entertainment, or people in order to be happy. Joy is in the Lord." Charles Stanley
Another Friday. Another chemo treatment. Ryan didn't get upset right before the treatment as he usually does (thank you, Lord), but he did get sick. One more to go, son! Plans changed at the last minute and we had to divide up for the kids. I had planned to go to Ryan's treatment at 2pm. We found out that Davianna's science camp had a presentation for the parents at 2:45pm, and she really wanted one of us to be there. So, Mirjan took Ryan and Emma to the doctor's office, and I went to Davianna's science camp.
Davianna didn't expect me, and she was really excited. She walked me around to the various rooms and showed me what she has been working on the past week.
This was part of "Sludge City" that she made. Those are solar houses around the lake.
There is the rest of the city. I thought it was interesting that the kids made sure that there was a church.
And a Walmart and Starbucks!
This is the filtration system that she made:
Here is the invention that she made. She broke open a smoke detector and kept the circuit board and button. When you push the button, flowers grow out of the circuit board.
This is from her inventor's log book:
This is a flying contraption that she said might not really fly.
She held my hand the entire time and explained everything in detail. It was a blessing. The rest of the day, she would randomly yell, "Camp Invention 2010, we're the best that's ever been!" I'm really glad that she enjoyed the camp.
We all arrived home about the same time, and Mirjan and Emma took a nap. Mirjan was still hurting, but not as bad as yesterday. Her appointment is on Monday, so hopefully we understand what is going on. To give her a break, I took the big kids out for a while this evening. We went to Home Depot, the sporting goods store, and Best Buy. I bought some goggles for the kids, since they will start swimming lessons next week.
When we got home, the kids got ready for bed. Davianna and I read about 5 loaves and 2 fish, and then I asked her questions about it. She knew most of the story, but enjoyed it. Then Ryan came in, and all three of us talked. Then it was lights out.
Father, thank you for blessing Ryan with a safe treatment today. Thank you for your continued comfort and healing. Thank you for the time that I could spend with the kids today. It was a blessing. Father, I ask that you be with Mirjan and strengthen her body. I ask, in Jesus' name, that the scans in the next several weeks are good. Please continue to heal my son. Amen.
