Day Ten

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding: in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6

I'm now questioning what type of surgery Ryan had on Friday. I don't recall seeing any OSI (Office of Scientific Intelligence) officials, but Ryan reminded us of Steve Austin (Six Million Dollar Man) today. I question whether he received bionic implants that made him run faster and jump higher than any other four year old. Ryan was full of energy today.

Today was a good day. I am paying more attention to the little comments and keeping track of them, which just reminds me how truly special Ryan is, how pure his heart is, and how often he refers to God.

Mirjan got everyone going this morning, as she does every Sunday morning, and we made it to the early service just a little late (or on time according to our schedule). We had a good indication that Ryan would get the box during ROCK time, and, in fact, he did. That means that he will put something important to him in the box, bring it back to church next week, and the pastor will base a short message to the kids on that. I am willing to bet that Ryan will put a bakugan in the box.

In the afternoon, Mirjan and Emma took a nap, while Davianna, Ryan, and I watched television. Ryan decided to stretch out his lunch over a period of two hours. He has never been a quick eater, so I let him go at his own pace today.

We watched "Meet the Robinsons" and at the end of the movie, there was a quote from Walt Disney. Ryan asked me what it said, and then asked if Walt Disney was real. I told him he was, but he wasn't alive now. Ryan quickly told me that he was alive in heaven and in our hearts.

Cindy brought dinner for us, which was really nice. We feel kind of awkward accepting help, food, etc., but she said she was bringing food anyway. Again, God's love displayed through others. As we sat down to eat, Ryan said, "Let's pray the old fashioned way," and he lifted his outstretched arms up to God. So, we all lifted our arms up to God and prayed together.

In the evening, Ryan was everywhere, into everything, and it tested our patience. This is where the six million dollar man thought came into my mind. We were happy that he felt so good to be so active, but he really was in and out of everything.

We followed the normal bedtime routine, and Mirjan and I ended up in Ryan's room after he was already in bed. We talked to him for a while, and he asked us to sleep with him. So, we got into the bed with him and stayed until he was sound asleep.

Lord, thank you for your blessings, many of which I take for granted every day. During the past week, You have already blessed us with quick detection, talented specialists, successful surgery, and profound love, caring, and generosity from many people. We recognize those and gracefully thank you. I trust in You with all of my heart and ask for your healing power for Ryan.
