"You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand." Psalm 16:11
Ryan had another good day. He got a dose of ELT today trying to get to school. He knows his mother well, so he asked her to call his best friend's mother to pick him up. He said she would get him there on time. Ryan, welcome to my world, boy. You will soon realize that it's not the end of the world to be late to everything. In some cases, you will actually miss part of an event that you didn't want to go, so there is a benefit every now and then. :) I love you, Mirjan.
A memory popped into my mind after receiving an email from a child life specialist at the doctor's office. I remember our first visit to the doctor to examine Ryan, and we had to walk past the Children's Blood and Cancer Center's office. I remembered exactly what time it was, the sounds, seeing the jar of livestrong wristbands, the design of the doors, etc., and thinking, "Please, Lord, let whatever this is with Ryan don't let it take us through those doors." The vivid detail of everything was amazing, and I think that is associated to the first realization that this might be something real bad.
Mirjan cooked some gooood food tonight. She made the absolute best cornbread that I have ever eaten in my entire life (sorry, Mom....you still make the best cheesetoast). I could eat that and only that for every meal from now on. Emma visited the doctor today, and she was prescribed some medicine for an ear infection. She isn't cranky at all, but you can tell by her look that she's not feeling well. Mirjan took her temperature about every other hour all night. At least Emma is running around and having fun tonight. She was following me all over the house. When I looked at her, she would say, "hi," and then wave and then keep following me. Awesome!
Davianna played on the computer tonight and was singing. We tied in "I Spy," although I didn't agree with the scoring method. Ryan was playing on the itouch and making sure he has finished more levels than Pops on Angry Birds. Davianna went in Ryan's room and hugged him and kissed him goodnight, and later, he went into her room and told her he loved her. Making progress! He was really sweet tonight and hugged me many times...good stuff.
Father, thank you for blessing Ryan with another healthy day. Thank you for the blessing of a wonderful wife who takes such good care of her family. Thank you for the kisses of little girls and the tight-tight hugs of little boys. I ask that you be with Emma and help her get better. Let her and Mirjan sleep well tonight. Please continue to strengthen Ryan and heal his little body. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
