Day Sixty-eight

"The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble.  He cares for those who trust in him, " Nahum 1:7

Ryan's spirits were high today, but he is right on the edge of having to go to the emergency room due to his temperature.  Mirjan is checking it frequently, and we're praying that it returns to normal.  Fever is the only way that his body can tell that something is wrong, so we take it very seriously.  In the beginning of the treatment, the doctor said there would most likely be several emergency room visits, but I'm praying it's not tonight.

I read a story about one of the new Houston Texans coaches who had rhabodmyosarcoma at age 28.  He was coaching at CSU and received treatment in Minneapolis, which reminded of the blessing that Ryan's treatment is just a 25 minute drive away.  I showed Ryan his picture and told him that he had the same cancer as Ryan, and he is now a NFL coach.  Ryan thought that was pretty cool.  I sent the Texans an email, and they will send a signed picture of him to Ryan after they take photos in May.  Awesome!

This evening Ryan had an orange, an orange soda, an orange pushup ice cream, and orange cheese puffs.  At least he got one orange thing that was healthy.  The others will help with his weight.   He was watching Curious George and didn't feel good until he starting eating the orange stuff.

It was a nice, relaxing evening.  Both Ryan and Davianna took turns putting their head on my shoulder on the couch.  Emma just walked by, hit me, and laughed.

I gave the girls a bath and put Davianna to sleep.  I think we need to roll back our bedtime by another 30 minutes, because she barely made it through a book before she was out.  Emma was loud and full of energy. Mirjan told Davianna that Emma would be sleeping with her soon, and Davianna got upset.  She said Emma wakes up at night and makes too much noise. :)

Emma was kissing and tackling Ryan and laughing like a horse, or her mommy, they both sound kind of the same. :)  Ryan drank some milk, and then he got the special treatment.  He got to sleep on daddy's pillow next to mommy.  Mirjan will watch him throughout the night, check his temperature, and give him that supper-mommy-love of hers.

He came running out after a while, and he said, word for word, "I didn't want to forget to give you a hug.  I love you with all of my heart, and I won't ever stop loving you."   What a wonderful moment!

Father, please bless Ryan with a healthy night, let his temperature return to normal, and keep him safe.  I thank you for Mirjan, and the love and care that she willingly provides the family.  Thank you for the love a sweet boy that is completely pure and wonderful.  Thank you for blessing us with a good evening together and letting us smile and laugh together.  I am grateful for the family you have provided.  Lord, please continue to hold Ryan in your hands, keep his immune system healthy, rid him of the fever, and continue to heal his little body.  In Jesus' name I pray.  Amen.
