Day One Hundred Fifty-seven

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."  Hebrews 11:1

Ryan had a good day today.  He ate his sandwich at lunch and his chicken at dinner.  He wasn't real excited about eating, but he did anyway.

We were more than a little bit late to church today.  It was a good message and is a good series.  Next week, the pastor will pause the sermon series and have a patriotic service.  I'm sure that it will be really nice.

After lunch, we cleaned up the house a little bit, and Emma took a nap.  Mathew and Kelly from Make-A-Wish came by in the afternoon.  They were really nice.  Ryan acted like a little gentleman.  He met them at the door, shook their hand, and asked them to come in.   They brought Ryan a bag of goodies (tattoos, army men, magic stick).  They also brought Davianna a Disney Fairy Puzzle, and Emma a little stuffed animal.

Then they sat down with Ryan and asked him a lot of questions  (favorite color, movie, food, character, etc.).  They asked Ryan what his wish would be, and he said, "Legoland!"  After some more questions, Mirjan and I went in and answered the parent questions.

Since Ryan's birthday is this week, they brought him a birthday cake!   So, we sang happy birthday to Ryan and ate cake.

Mathew and Kelly with Ryan.

We enjoyed the visit with them.  Mathew was telling us about one of the boys that he helped grant a wish for in Dallas.  After he was done with his treatment, his mother was giving her testimony at church and when she was done, the four year old boy walked up and grabbed the microphone.  He walked up to the pulpit and told everyone that God healed his body.  It gave us the chills just listening to the details.  As they were leaving, I asked if we could say a prayer and we did.

I hope that this opportunity works out for Ryan, as I know he will be on cloud 9.  He was telling them how to get to California from Texas.  Mathew asked him how to get to Texas from South Dakota, and Ryan knew the states in order to get here. Smart boy.  The kindness and caring that they showed was amazing.  Thank you, Lord.

Davianna and Ryan put together her puzzle tonight, and they did a great job.  63 pieces and they only lost one!

It was a good day.

Father, thank you for blessing Ryan with a good, healthy day.  Thank you for your message from Pastor today.  I thank you for the caring and thoughtful individuals who shared their time with us today.  I'm grateful for Ryan's opportunity with Make-A-Wish. I ask that you continue to strengthen his body and heal my little boy.  In Jesus' name I pray.  Amen.
