"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." John 14:27
We met with the oncologist, and he said he had received the pathology report. Then everything went hazy. He said they would recieve a separate, independent pathology report for validation. He then started talking about procedures that we needed to start immediately to understand the extent of the disease. He said we can do them over a week or hit them all at once. We wanted to move quickly with the least impacting option on Ryan, so we would get them all done in the next two days. He briefly talked about the treatment process and answered our questions.
We met with a social worker (Caren) who said she was there to help us. She signed the kids up for super sibs, us for other things, etc. She gave us books for us, for the other kids, Dvds to watch with the family that would help explain what is going on, etc. You could tell that she really cared.
We then met with a lifecare specialist (Claudia) who showed Ryan how the port a cath worked and what to expect when he came in for chemotherapy. She let Ryan do everything, which was nice. She showed us around the office and Ryan loved the games area. Mirjan and I had to take a break, and someone quickly led us to a room, while Claudia took Ryan to play a game. When we came out, Ryan was playing Wak-a-mole and didn't want to leave.
We left knowing that I would get a call about the time to show up tomorrow and what would be done. Mirjan called at 4pm asking the status. At 4:30, I received a call telling us that we needed to be at the hospital at 6:30am. She said they would do a bone scan, marrow biopsy, MRI, and the port a cath. I received a call from the doctor's office at 5pm with different info...we needed to be there at 5:45am. I called the hospital to confirm....it would be 5:45 am.
The evening was a blur. I was calling, explaining, and doing all the little things that needed to be done.... And those things that would just keep me busy. Mirjan cooked and helped Davianna with a school project. She spent alot of time doing that, while Emma spent her time undoing it.
Uncle Will came over to pick up some furniture. It was good to see him.
Jesse from church brought food (stew, etc). That was really nice of him and Lynn.
I gave Ryan a bath and took off his bandages from Friday's surgery. He was in good spirits.
I asked him to say his prayers....wow! The Lord is in that boy. I was so impressed that I asked if he could say it again on video. It wasn't the same, but I was moved. It went something like this, "Lord, thank you for (listed every person in his family, neighbors, etc.). Lord, give me strength tomorrow at the hospital. I ask that you protect me and make me healthy....and it went on..."
He asked me to pray for him, so I prayed over him, set out his clothes for tomorrow and kissed him goodnight.
I read a book with Davianna and put her to sleep. She prayed for her brother too.
Mirjan put Emma to sleep. I washes the dishes, took out the trash, and other little things before going to bed.
I fell asleep asking God over and over for a safe day tomorrow and healing for Ryan.
God bless and heal my little boy.
