Day One Hundred Fifty-nine

"The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your love, O Lord, endures forever -- do not abandon the works of your hands."  Psalm 138:8

Ryan was a handful today.  He spread his dinner time over an hour or so, as he just didn't want to eat.  Then he accidentally knocked his plate onto the floor.   He and food just haven't gotten along for the past 159 days.  I pray that his appetite (for something besides candy) will return soon.

Amy and TC came over this evening because they will miss Ryan's birthday.  What a blessing! They brought him two lego sets, and the kids immediately started putting one of them together.  It was like TC never moved away, because the kids acted like they had just walked across the street to play with him.  Emma started many conversations with Amy and played patty-cake with her many times.   I still remember after Ryan's surgery when the doctor confirmed that it was cancer.  Amy was there...for a reason...and it was a blessing    We have missed seeing them every day and watching the kids play, but at least we see them every Sunday.  They are really a wonderful family.

Ryan got a little moody again towards the end of the evening...maybe he was taking after his daddy today.  After his milk, he was fine again.  We prayed, and then he went to sleep.

Ryan is excited about his birthday, and so are we.  It will be so much more special for Mirjan and I than Ryan will understand.  Thank you, Lord!

Mirjan received some texts from Elissa's Mom, who is at MD Anderson in Houston.  Elissa asked her mom to text Mirjan and ask Mirjan to pray for her.  Mirjan prayed with her at the children's hospital here, and the little girl wants more.  Wonderful!

At church last Sunday, the pastor told us that a member of the church was being deployed.  Since we were a couple of streets over from them, he asked if we could offer assistance.  They have three little kids and another on the way.  Mirjan saw Sandra and told her that her husband wouldn't be going, and she would pray for them.  Mirjan was adamant that it wasn't going to happen, and  I felt a little awkward because he already had orders.  Well, they found out today that plans have changed, and he wouldn't be going.  It's a blessing that he can see his next child's birth and be with his family.

Father, thank you for the love of friends and their kindness.  Thank you that the kids could enjoy time with TC this evening.  I ask that you be with Elissa and continue to heal her.  Their family needs your guidance and comfort, and I ask that walk with them on their journey.  Father, I am grateful for your blessings.  As we watch their journey and the challenges they have faced and the ones they are still facing, we realize even more that we are blessed.  We pray that they continue to open their hearts to you.  I also ask that you continue to guide, comfort, and strengthen Ryan, and continue to heal my little boy.  In Jesus' name I pray.  Amen.
