Day One Hundred Fifty-eight

"After one of the services at our church, I spoke with a woman who had been recently diagnosed with cancer. She admitted to me that although she had made a commitment to Christ, she had not been living as she should. She felt badly about the wasted years of her life.

"I have wasted so much time," she told me.

"You can't change that," I said, "but you can still get in the race. So you are a late bloomer. Do something now. Start today. And then get on with it tomorrow and the next day and as many days as God gives you." We prayed together and asked that God would heal her. But we also prayed that if God did not choose to heal her, He would use her during this time and give her strength.

Don't feel that because you haven't lived as you should have for some 10, 20, 30, 40—or however many years that you have lost your opportunity. Get in the race. There is still a place for you. There are opportunities that God will give you.

The Bible tells us that one day we all will stand before God and be held accountable. He will want to know what we did with the abilities, talents, resources, and time He gave us. So we need to ask ourselves, What am I doing with my life? Am I using what God has given me?

It is possible to have a saved soul and a lost life. How sad it would be to get to heaven with nothing to show for the time that God gave us. How much better it would be to hear Him say, "Well done, good and faithful servant." So let's get on with God's work."   Greg Laurie

Ryan had a healthy day today, and he didn't want to wear a lot of clothes for some reason.  After dinner, Ryan and Davianna sat in the computer chair together (tight squeeze) and played a puzzle game for quite a while.  It was nice because they were working together (although Davianna was clearly in charge).  Ryan did have his moods today, and it was frustrating.  However, each time he gets in a mood and says things he shouldn't, we pull him aside and have a talk.  The trend is so obvious now....he doesn't eat well,  as it gets later he gets moody, then he drinks a bottle of milk before bed, and he is super sweet.  All things considered, he's handling everything very well.

Emma was running around making messes and then picking them up.  Every time she would find something of Ryan's, she would get real excited, start yelling Ryan's name, and run to give it to him (or throw it at him).  Tonight, she also went and got Mirjan's shoes, put them on Mirjan's feet, started pushing Mirjan off the chair and saying "Out!"  I don't know if she wanted to go outside with Mirjan or just wanted Mirjan to go out. :)

Mirjan went to the doctor today.  She'll get the results back in two weeks, then do an ultrasound, and find out about that a week later.  Doctor said she might need surgery, but we'll see.  Isn't there a rule that only one person in the family can be undergoing tests and treatment at a time?  She was feeling a little better today, so that is good.  Ryan said that he would take care of her like she took care of him.  He can be so sweet.

Davianna has been really good the last week as a helper.  She has helped with groceries and cleaning up.  Emma will follow in her footsteps.  She does make more messes, but if you ask her to pick up, she doesn't hesitate.

Nothing real exciting today....but there were some real nice moments.

Father, thank you for blessing Ryan with another healthy day.  I ask that you continue to comfort Ryan's mind, increase his appetite to help balance his emotions, and strengthen his body.  Please be with Mirjan, comfort her, and I ask that whatever the tests show that you will guide us through that as well.  In Jesus' name, I ask that you continue to heal my little boy.  Amen.
