"Whenever you face trials of any kind, consider it nothing but joy, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance." James 1:2-3
Ryan had an awesome day today! We went to the early service, and pastor relayed a really good message. It was very relevant for our specific situation and it started to address questions that aren't easy to ask, nor have easy-to-understand answers. Afterward, Mirjan quickly cooked mac-n-cheese (twice...twice?..hmmm), because we had to be at the baseball field at noon.
We went to the baseball game with the Sunshine Kids Organization. It was really a great time for everyone! The baseball team let them use a suite to come and go, and then we had seats behind home plate. Since it was HOT and not many families showed up, we all stayed in the suite. We could sit outside and enjoy the game and then go inside and enjoy the air conditioning (which was great for the kids).
They walked us around the stadium and let the kids talk to some of the players. The players were really nice and signed the kid's badges and tickets.
Then one of the owners walked down with us to the Fun Zone and made sure that they let us do any activity that we wanted without a charge. Ryan hit the baseballs (like a champ), and Davianna did some rock climbing. The rock was really high, and I was surprised that she had no fear and was determined to reach the top, and she did! As she was climbing, people next to us started cheering her on. They were saying, "look at that little girl go!"
By the time we were done with these activities, the start of the game was still about 30 minutes away. So, we grabbed some hot dogs and cokes (provided by Sunshine) and headed up to the suite. Here are some pictures on the way.
My beautiful wife!
Add in some kids...
When we got back into the air conditioning, Spike (the mascot) came up to say hi! Here is a picture of him and some of the kids. The boy next to him had a brain tumor and finished his treatment 3 weeks ago. He is going to Disneyworld in a couple of weeks and is really excited.
The kids made a big mess with the cotton candy, but they loved it!
The game ended in the bottom of the ninth when the home team beat a throw to the plate to score the go ahead run. After the game, the kids ran the bases.
Davianna really wanted to get a face/hand painting, so we walked around after the game and a group was still doing them. Both of the kids got one on their arms.
It was a really good time, and I'm thankful for the Sunshine Kids and one of the owners of the baseball club. They were all really nice, and made the day super fun for the kids. Such blessings!
Father, thank you for blessing Ryan with such a wonderful day! Thank you for the Sunshine Kids Organization, the volunteers, and the owner of the baseball club. Please bless them and their families. Thank you for the smiles and excitement for the children. I ask that you continue to comfort, strengthen, and heal my little boy. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
