Day Ninety-six

"No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it."  Hebrews 12:11

Ryan had a good day, but he had a short fuse.  He was happy when I got home and was generally in a good mood!  We had leftovers tonight, which were just as good as the first time around.  Afterward, we went out back, I washed off the trampoline because it was unusually dirty, and we looked at the clouds and birds.  Mirjan was helping Davianna with her schoolwork, and then it was bath time.  Where do the evenings go lately?  I need to get home earlier.

After bath time, Emma and I read a book and then fought over her blankie.  She would take it away from me and just laugh. Then I would tickle her and she would laugh some more.  She is such a blessing.  Ryan went to bed quickly and drank a full bottle of milk, which I think has really helped with his weight.  Davianna and I then had another weird conversation, which resulted in us both laughing.  She has learned my humor and we amuse each other (and frustrate her mother at the same time).

Oh, when I backed out of the garage this morning on the way to Davianna's school, I saw that my yard had been mowed!  What?  Yes!  I saw my neighbor this evening, and she said that they did that yesterday evening. Another blessing.  I told her that they forgot the back yard, and she just laughed.  That was really nice!

Random thoughts continue....I asked Mirjan last night about my birthday.  I told her that I was thankful for her organizing the dinner with my family, the dinner with just the two of us from Pops and Elise, and the birthday cake.  I am thankful for her every day!   However, I asked if there was a custom in her family to present the birthday person with a gift before their birthday and then return it to the store after their birthday.  Yep, that's what happened.  At least I was able to enjoy it for a couple of days.  I love you, Mirjan!   I can't wait for my father's day gift (at least I know to enjoy it like crazy for a couple of days before it's returned...if they will even take back underwear :)  ).

Here are some wonderful pictures that Mirjan took:

It was a good day, and I am thankful for the blessings of a wonderful family.

Father, thank you for blessing Ryan with a healthy day.  Thank you for the smiles on the children's faces and the kisses at night.  Thank you for blessing me with Mirjan and her wonderful love.  I am truly grateful!  I ask that you continue to comfort Ryan, calm his spirit, let him feel peace, and continue to heal his little body.  In Jesus' name I pray.  Amen.
