Day Forty-six

"This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it."  Psalm 118:24

Today was a good day for Ryan, but his appetite is all over the place.  Yesterday he ate well, but today it's been a chore for Mirjan to get him to eat.  When he doesn't want to eat, he won't.  It doesn't matter if it's his favorite food or the dreaded plantain.  :)  Another little challenge to work on, but we will continue to figure it out together.

I was thinking this weekend whether I should keep updating this daily.  This has transformed from my feelings of the experience to an accounting of each day (with feelings mixed in), and I was thinking that I could just summarize it weekly.  However, it's the little things that I capture that are special, and I don't want to forget those.  Also, in twenty years, I want Ryan to read each day and experience all of the wonderful prayers, blessings, God's love, etc. that we experienced daily.  The daily examples of His love displayed also allows me to reflect and really be grateful for each day.

What happened today?  Ryan's "bestest" friend in the world came by and played with him.  He brought his mother with him, and she delivered some vegetable chili and cupcakes that were both really good.  Although they doesn't compare to Mirjan's cooking (brownie point scored), they really were good.
Also, Catherine from work brought down a gift bag for Ryan.  I was surprised and thankful.  It was very thoughtful of her to put together a lot of things for him, and she happened to get things with his favorite characters on them.  Ryan and I had yo-yo lessons this evening.

Gerri from work, who is a huge baseball fan, brought an entire box of baseball figures, cards, toys, etc. for Ryan.  She is so nice and thoughtful.  She included a bunch of Yankee items too, which will make Ryan and the in-laws happy too!  I couldn't believe how much stuff she put together for him.  She said she will continue to pray for Ryan.

Three more examples of God's love displayed.  Thank you, Father!

We have a Netflix subscription and use it weekly.  The kids love the cartoons/tv shows on demand and we use the rentals weekly.  Well, one of the very first DVDs we rented was Fireproof.  We rented it about six months ago, but never watched it.  Why?  Uh...we lost it.  So, I had to buy it and thought that we would rent it again in the future.  Mirjan with her household GPS ability located it yesterday, and we watched it last night (we can watch it over and over now since we own it).  The movie was really good and makes you realize what we should focus on every day.   If you haven't seen, rent it.

I spent a long time putting Ryan to bed tonight....learning states, counting, stories, etc.  Davianna came in, looked sad, and asked if I could hurry up, so I finished up with Ryan.  I went to her room, but she was not there...I guess she got tired of waiting and snuck into our bed with Mirjan.  I'll have to spend an extra long time with her tomorrow.  Then Ryan was yelling for me and said his stomach was growling.  I got him a banana, and we talked about eating.  I asked him if his tummy liked different things lately, and he said "my brain still likes the same things."   When he was done eating, his mood changed for the better, he told me "gooooood night, sweeeeeet dreams, I love you,"  and he was asleep for the night.

Father, thank you for a healthy day for Ryan. Thank you for allowing me to come home to a wonderful wife and three beautiful children.  I ask for your guidance with Ryan's appetite and mood.  Please continue to heal his little body and give him confidence with the changes.  In Jesus' name I pray.  Amen.
