Day Thirty-seven

"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,"  1 Peter 3:15

What a long night...  I woke up every time the nurse came in, because I wanted to verify the medicine that they were giving him,  and then Ryan had to use the restroom about every hour or so (gloves, bottle, "hurry up, Daddy," repeat...we have now perfected this routine).  The nurse was checking his blood pressure on his leg around 3am, and Ryan got extremely upset.  I guess he woke up because of the pressure on his leg and did not like it at all.

Ryan's stomach was really hurting him this morning.  He got sick several times, but then was able to eat some fruit.  It tears my heart out to hear him keep talking about how much it hurts and seeing tears just roll down his face as he lies there.  I talked to the doctor this morning, and she said to give him zofran throughout the weekend.  She also said that if he continues to get sick throughout the day and on Sunday to call and come back to hook him up to the IV again.

Mirjan came to pick us up at the hosptial in ELT style, and Ryan was ready to go home.  He was just going through the motions with everything and had that "chemo stare."  We got home and Ryan sat with Nana for a while before she left.  He then slept for the rest of the day.  The only thing that he talked about eating was pizza, so we ordered pizza tonight.  Ryan made us sing two different dinner prayers twice each. While we were talking about the difference between Gatorade and Powerade, he said, "Lord, give me patience!"  Uh, I wonder from what person (Mirjan, maybe?) he learned that from.   Davianna wanted to help out, so she was feeding Ryan and then Ryan wanted to feed Emma.  Dinner was good.

Davianna asked me about 100 times to go jump on the trampoline with her, so we went for a walk and then jumped for a while.  She laughs just like her mother.

Another good moment was when Ryan was resting on the couch.  Emma keep coming up to him, standing on her tippy toes and kissing his head.  I think she likes his 'bolted' head.
Ryan was doing much better this evening, and we all watched a Lego movie together.  I think he needed some "Mommy TLC,"  which he got plenty of today.  We'll continue to watch him closely, make sure he gets the zofran this weekend, and we'll have to limit where he goes for a week until the next CBC.

Father, I thank you for a safe visit to the hospital and for your continued healing of Ryan.  I thank you for a good evening with the family and a loud house full of love.  I ask that you let Ryan's stomach feel better and keep his immune system strong.  Lord, I am grateful for the blessings you have provided and your answers to so many prayers for Ryan.  Amen.
