Day Five

A thousand things to do today, but the most important was at 11:20a.m.

I arrived at the specialist's office around 11:00 and started the paperwork. Scan driver's license, scan insurance card, then I have to write that information down on the forms 5 times. I knew that I would have to repeat this process at every office and hospital that we would visit. But that is not a big deal...just a small irritation.

You probably didn't know that a new time zone was created in 2003 (ELT - Eastern Latina Time). It was created when I was standing at the church, without the bride-to-be for an hour and half after the scheduled start time of our wedding. I wasn't that concerned because it was a double wedding and one-half of the church was empty, while the other was full. I knew that there was no way that many people could have found out that the wedding was off. They all showed up at almost the same time...1.5 hours late. Therefore, it was determined that Mirjan had her own time zone and for the past 7 years I have lived in it.

Over the past 7 years, ELT has become closer aligned with CST, but is still off a bit. Therefore, I wasn't too concerned when Mirjan and Ryan weren't there by 11:20. I called her and she was at least in the car and on her way. She got there shortly, and we then went in to see the doctor.

The nurse practitioner checked Ryan and immediately said, in her opinion, that was not a hernia. That sinking feeling in my stomach arrived, and I could see the concern flow across Mirjan.

The specialist came in and checked Ryan. He said the same thing and then said he wanted an ultrasound today or tomorrow. I asked him what he thought it was, and he was hesitant on saying anything until he knew for sure. However, he made it clear that it wasn't good and needed to be addressed immediately.

The ultrasound was scheduled for 1:00pm the next day. He said that they would fax him the ultrasound, and he would call us back on Wednesday or Thursday.

Ryan was great throughout the examination. You could tell he was hesitant to do anything and was very uncomfortable, but he did what was asked of him. Just like everything else, he listens and is respectful.

I went back to work and Mirjan continued her day of picking up the kids, schoolwork, etc. She had school that night, so I enjoyed the evening with the kids...enjoying every minute of it.

Praying is happening more frequently and longer. He gives us comfort, calmness, and removes the anxiety.
