"Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ." 1 Corinthians 1:3
Ryan was in a good mood today, so he was taking after me. Mirjan said that he ate well today too. He was full of energy and was his usual loving, kind self. He asked me if I could sleep with him tonight, so we'll figure that out later. So, I have a choice of snoring or being kicked...hmmm....I'll flip a coin. Thank you, Lord, for Ryan's good day.
Mirjan told me that she asked the doctor about the transfusions and what should we expect because that was discussed early in the treatment. The doctor said that he would have expected to have one by now, but it hasn't been needed. Thank you, Lord!
Let's see what I remember about today....
A lady at work had given Ryan a huge box of baseball items (cards, toys, figures, etc.) last week, that Ryan really enjoyed. She is a huge collector of baseball memorabilia, and I know that she went through her collection to find just the right things for him. This week, she sent a doll for Emma, a beautiful, real tea set for Davianna and a necklace. She said she didn't want them to feel left out. What a wonderful person. God's love displayed.
Emma did her little penguin happy feet dance when I got home. It's such a blessing to see a child so happy just to see you. She is such a blast. The other kids were in another room captivated by a movie, so I had to go get them and do my penguin happy feet dance.
Mirjan went to the car wash today with the kids and had a free voucher. When she gave him the voucher, Davianna said, "Okay, Mommy, who is hooking you up?" I keep telling Mirjan that Davianna is just like her, and this was a good example.
Ryan wanted to make a sandwich tonight, so he did. Bread and grated cheese....nothing else. That is his favorite sandwich. I wonder if it will be his "cheese toast" of life. (I constantly remind my mother that she fed us cheese toast every day when we were little - she contests that, but my brothers remember the same thing.)
Ryan was really sweet today. He has the most beautiful, heartfelt prayers. Tonight, he included the following (almost word for word): "Thank you God for my beautiful mom, my beautiful dad, and your beautiful son named Jesus. I will always love you." He then told me, "I'm glad you're my dad. If I didn't have you in my life, I wouldn't be completed." That surprised me and made me smile. It's something that Mirjan tells him all of the time.
Father, thank you for a great day for Ryan. Thank you for his wonderful heart and his showing me unconditional love for you. Thank you for the blessings of happy children and a home full of love. I ask that you continue to guide our family through this and to share your love with those we encounter. Please continue to heal my little boy. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Amen! Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this beautiful family and for this amazing glimpse into their lives, despite the circumstances. We know that Ryan is in Your care and we thank you Father God that he has not needed any transfusions to this point and that the side effects of the chemo have been minimal. Father I pray that you continue to bring healing and strength to Ryan and peace and perseverance to David, Mirjan, Davianna and Emma.
Thank you for the beautiful example of Your perfect Love that this family is to all of us - may they remain close to Your heart and bound together by their faith in You.
In the precious name of Jesus, I pray, Amen!
