"For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways." Psalm 91:11
Forty days already? Wow! The titles might be boring, but at least they remind me that we're moving forward in this journey.
Well, it was a beautiful day, but I didn't get home until after dark....and the house was dark. The best part of the day is coming home and getting a running hug from Ryan, a smile from Emma, and a sassy look from Davianna. They got home shortly after I did, and all I got, in this order, was "Hey, Dad," "Hi, Dad," and "AHHHHEEEEE." Ryan was wearing the hat that we bought in the summer when we had a guy's day shopping (that means 2 stores, about 5 minutes in each store, and then goofing off). He took the hat off and put it on my head, and said I was cool!
Mirjan took Emma today for a wellness checkup, and all was fine. She is going to be a tall girl!
Ryan had a good day today. I'm curious how the CBC will turn out this Friday, because he seems to be recovering after each weekly treatment very well...THANK YOU, LORD! The doctor said he would probably need several transfusions, so I'm thinking about that and continuing to pray that those are few to none!
I went over the medical bills last night, and I thank the Lord that we have insurance! The whole system has advanced since the children were born, and it's easier to get information. Everything shows up online 3 weeks after a procedure, and I can download everything to an excel file and track payments. Everything so far seems to have gone through the medical bill review before I receive something in the mail. This seems basic, but when Emma was born, we would get a bill after the procedure from one of the ten people involved and their clock would start ticking for payment. I'd drop it in a folder until the insurance worked out what I really owed, and then I'd get a modified bill for that procedure. I would then validate the cost because some procedures were covered at different percentages, although it was the same doctor, same location, and same procedure. So, I had to work that out...ridiculous, huh?
Anyway, everything so far has been pretty straight forward. I've fallen out of my chair a couple of times at some of the bills....really, really unbelievable.

I also thank the Lord that we had purchased Aflac cancer insurance about 5 years ago. Why did I buy that? I really don't know why. This is just another blessing. If you don't have it, go get it. It took about one week from the time I faxed 17 pages of information to the time the first claim was processed. The only challenge is getting the right information from the right provider to send to them. (They really could make the process a lot easier.) We'll see how it goes through the rest of the treatment, but so far, so good.
Tonight I talked to Ryan for about 30 minutes as I put him to bed. He was tired and a little upset, so I had to make him laugh for a while. Then I turned him over to the "closer" and allowed her to give him that "Mommy Love." I went over to Davianna's room, and we started reading a new book. We'll try and finish it tomorrow. She asked me to tell her a story about when I was a boy, so I was telling her all the things we didn't have (sounded like my mother). She couldn't believe that we didn't have DVRs (cartoons on demand), that cartoons were only on Saturday mornings, there weren't cell phones, etc. She then asked me if we had a horse carriage or a car. WHAT? Then I had to tickle her. Good time with the kids.
Father, I ask that you be with Ryan, give him confidence with the changes in his life, let him feel your love, and continue to heal him. May your angels guard him in every way. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
