Day Fifty-eight

"When I called, you answered me; you made me bold and stouthearted." Psalm 138:3

Mirjan had a long night at the hospital.  Ryan got very sick last night, about the same time after the chemo when I stayed with him.  After the cleanup process, he went right to sleep.  Mirjan said she got a couple hours of sleep.  She's a trooper and was fantastic!  I felt so good about Ryan when I left the hospital last night, because he looked so good and was eating more than usual.  I talked to him on the phone when I got home, and he still sounded good.  At least his mom was there to comfort him when he started feeling bad.

I woke up last night with Davianna poking me in my face.  She said, "Daddy, Emma is crying and you need to fix it."  I can't believe that I didn't hear her.  So, I took my precious baby, gave her some milk, and put her back to bed.  Of course, they made sure that we woke up bright and early.  We had pancakes for breakfast and then played a while waiting for Ryan to come back home.  Emma is in a laughing phase and is so much fun.  She thinks everything is funny and just starts laughing all of the time.

Ryan was sick again this morning, so I was surprised when Mirjan called and said they were going by the Childhood Cancer Fair with St. Baldrick's at the hospital.   Although Ryan wasn't feeling good, Mirjan said that Ryan had a good time.  He was able to see his buddy John and defeated him in a sword fight.  When he came home, he was excited telling me about the fair and that he hung out with John.

Ryan enjoyed the crafts and God's love and caring displayed through the volunteers like John and Samia at the hospital.

When Ryan got home, after talking about all of the excitement, he got sick again.  He then planted himself on the couch next to me and stayed there the entire day.  After the girls' naps, they went over to one of their friend's house.  Ryan was in and out of sleep until the evening.  When he woke up, we watched Blue's Clues and The Suite Life episodes.  This evening he was a little more active with his sisters...chasing them around the house with the sword.  The house got progressively louder and louder, which was really good.

Father, thank you for being with Ryan through the treatment.  Thank you for the love and kindness of those at the hospital who bring smiles to Ryan and make him feel more comfortable and relaxed.  I ask that you continue to guide us through this journey, give us strength and wisdom, and continue to heal my little boy.  Let Ryan feel how special his is to you and that you are with him all the time.  In Jesus' name I pray.  Amen.
