Day Twenty-four

"We love because he first loved us."  1 John 4:19

Happy Valentine's Day, Mirjan!  I love you with all of my heart!

Today was another simple day.  We went to the early service and pastor gave another good message.  Emma had a bad case of mamitis (anxiety separation) and Mirjan spent the entire service with her in the foyer.  Emma usually does good at the nursery, but not today.  I think she was tired because she was asleep by the time we got home and slept for several hours.

Ryan and Davianna played with the playdoh that Aunt Kaki sent and Mirjan was reading blog pages of other children with cancer.  I had to ask her to turn off the computer because it was tearing her apart.  There are so many heartbreaking stories.  God, please be with those families and comfort them.

We received an email from Cindy at church asking us how things were going, what did we need, when did we need it, etc.  She said people are asking how they can help.  She is such a nice person and the church family is so giving.  God's love displayed.

I'm not sure what happened in the afternoon, because Mirjan slipped something into my food which caused me to take a nap. :)  When I woke up, everyone was huddled up on the couch watching television.  Emma had to have a conversation with me, so we did, and then she led me to the kitchen and was pointing to the bananas.  So, I gave her one and she demolished it quickly.

The big event of the day was Shrinky Dinks.  Aunt Molly sent those last week.  Wow, these brought back memories.  I didn't know that they still made them.  Davianna and I started and then Ryan joined in.  We made 5 of them and watched them bake in the oven.  The instructions said don't panic if they curl up, but we panicked.  However, they turned out great and the kids had fun.

Will and Merielk came by afterwards and brought the kids gifts, which was really nice of them.   I think Ryan can now open a bakugan store.  I might teach him about ebay in the next several weeks.

Father, I thank you for another simple, good day spent with the family.  I thank you for blessing me with a wonderful, beautiful, caring, funny, goofy, sweet wife.  I'm truly thankful for her every day.  Thank you for blessing us a good weekend for Davianna, as she really felt special.  Thank you for Ryan's good health and energy this weekend. I thank you for your love that has been displayed through many people, and it continues each day.  We are amazed, thankful, and feel so blessed.  I ask that you comfort all of the families that are dealing with cancer in their families.  The stories and videos that we saw were painful, and I know that they need you with them.  I ask that you keep Ryan healthy, minimize the side affects of the medicines, and give our family strength to support him and each other.  In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
